Yes its true! Even musicians are strapped for cash when it comes to fronting the money for touring and album creation. Jill Sobule is asking her fans for $75k to do just that! Before Katy Perry topped the charts with her sassy single, “I Kissed a Girl,” Sobule scored a Top 20 hit with a song of the same name back in 1995. Now Sobule is a free agent which means she must think of way to fund her projects on her own. n January 2008, she started her fund raising drive on jillsnextrecord.com. Sobule offered prizes to contributors — or “gifts,” as she calls them. For 10 grand, you got to sing on the record. Five thousand dollars earned you a private living room concert. A $100 donation meant a T-shirt from Sobule with the words “Junior Executive Producer” emblazoned on it. Its a wonder why she did not also offer a nice set of Samsonite luggage into the mix too.
These days the $75k she needs is just the minimum to be able to fund this project. its does not pay for a makeup artist or hair stylist. It will be interesting to see if in fact she can pull it off!
