Billboard.com has begun its rollout of “Best of the 2000s” content, beginning with a list of top one-hit wonders. Daniel Powter’s “Bad Day,” the song that was used to see off rejected contestants on the fifth season of American Idol, beat out songs including Terror Squad’s “Lean Back” and Crazy Town’s “Butterfy.”
The list includes a few less-obvious picks, such as Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” and James Blunt’s “You’re Beautiful,” both chosen because they brought the artists commercial success that was never repeated. Picks such as Dream’s “He Loves Me Not” and Blu Cantrell’s “Hit Em Up Style (Oops!)” reach further back into the start of the decade.
