The 2009 AMA Award winners were led by Taylor Swift and Michael Jackson. The 2009 AMA winners were announced Sunday night during the live American Music Awards show, with many other artists performing new songs to the masses. Sometimes the performances can out-shine the winners themselves, and that may have been the case once again with a very strong set of performance artists. Taylor Swift was the biggest winner at the 2009 AMA’s, taking home five AMA awards, and showing once again that she has an appeal to music fans that stretches further than just country music. Taylor Swift wasn’t the only big winner at the 2009 AMA’s though, as the late Michael Jackson won four awards himself.
The primary draw to the 2009 American Music Awards was that Adam Lambert was set to perform a single off his album that will drop on Monday, November 23rd, and he did not disappoint. The song that he performed was called For Your Entertainment, and will probably go a long way towards selling even more albums this week.
other notable performances of the night belonged to Jennifer Lopez in her return, Lady Gaga performing well in another flashy ensemble, Jay-Z was on stage, and of course the Black Eyed Peas (with Fergie) were there to celebrate. The night also marked the return of Janet Jackson to the stage, as she brought the show to a start at the very beginning.
